| Other info about your event…: | The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and a consortium of Springfield-area history organizations will hold a History Trivia Night on Saturday, April 27th.
The event–the first of its type in Springfield–will be held in a unique historical setting: the main and upper level of the Old State Capitol. Doors open at 6 pm, with play beginning at 7 pm. Tables of 10 compose teams for the evening, working together to come up with the right answer for each question. The table will designate a recorder who at the end of each round brings a score sheet to the judges who tally the correct answers. The table with the highest score at the end of the evening will win $250, with $150 for second place, and $50 for third. Prizes will also be awarded for the table with the best Illinois history-themed decor! Reserved tables are $100 for up to 10 players. Individual tickets are $10 and can be purchased in person or by phone at the historic Tinsley Dry Goods Store (525-1825) at 209 S. Sixth Street. Tickets can also be purchased in person or by phone at the Pleasant Plains Historical Society’s Clayville Historic Site Trading Post (572-4984) off Route 125, southeast of Pleasant Plains. Reservation forms and checks must be received no later than Monday, April 22. All proceeds will benefit the Lincoln Troubadours, an a capella choral group composed of local high school and college students who perform at historic sites and events in and around Sangamon County each summer. Donning period costumes, the students–coached by Lincoln Land Community College vocal director Sue Hamilton and her Springfield High School counterpart, Damien Kaplan–serve as musical ambassadors, singing period music that helps tell the story of Central Illinois during the Civil War era. Real Cuisine Catering will be selling food for participants and a cash bar will be open. Due to the historic nature of the site, food and beverages may not be brought in. Popcorn and pretzels will be provided. |
